Happily Ever After 212 is my blog about maintaining a healthy BMI after childhood obesity and being borderline obese most of my adult life and topping out at 212 lbs in the spring of 2010. I had a baby in 2011 and then in 2012 I resumed my journey, getting down to about 160 through moderating my diet and gradually increasing activity. I am currently in the process of working toward being able to do a pullup, and may adjust my weight further.
Maintaining a weight loss is often more difficult than expected, with many people finding it harder than losing weight. Many people regain their weight within 3-5 years, particularly if they go back to eating as they did before weight loss. Studies have found 5% to 20% of people who reach a weight loss goal are able to maintain it.
I am determined to beat these odds through:
1. Continuing my healthy lifestyle of diet, fitness and mental health
2. Studying and reporting on research into weight maintenance
3. Seeking out association with successful maintainers and offering assistance to new maintainers
4. Understanding the differences between maintenance and weight loss
